Since Jeff could walk, he was already hooked on fishing with his father. Heck, it must had been in the Soo Hoo genes because Jeff's son was also fishing before he could even walk!
Fishing has different meanings for every angler and for Jeff, it is to enjoy the elements of the great outdoors, the challenge, the excitement and unpredictable outcome of fishing.
Jeff has over 30 years experience in the water. He has a U.S. Coast Guard 100 ton Masters license and trained in first aid and CPR.

Spring Striper Blitz With Captain Jeff!

For many years, I have heard about the fishing exploits of Jeff Soo Hoo, so much so that when I first contacted him, I felt that I had known him for years. Soo Hoo, now Captain Jeff, owns and operates Soo Hoo Sportfishing.
A long-time angler, Captain Jeff has spent a lifetime learning the complexities of the California Delta and the local ocean waters. In the summer he is a second wheel for Emeryville Sportfishing, running salmon and rock fish trips aboard the Pacific Pearl and the Tigerfish. During the Spring and Fall he runs his namesake Soo Hoo Sportfishing, specializing in small party light tackle striped bass fishing in the California Delta.

The striped bass is one of the most popular gamefish in California and striper fever is a very real phenomenon.

Once you’re bitten by the bug, there is simply no cure. And one man who knows this all to well is Capt. Jeff Soo Hoo.

“I have been chasing stripers pretty hard for the last 20 years,” Soo Hoo said. “I just got hooked on them and there is something about striped bass that appeals to me.”

I played hooky from work recently to spend a day on the Delta with Captain Jeffrey Soo Hoo of Soo Hoo Sportfishing. To my delight, we had his boat all to ourselves which allowed me to pick his brain about fishing, cooking fish, and travelling the world to catch fish.
I boarded his Rouge Jet Coastal 23 around 7:00am and we blasted off from Lauritzen Yacht Harbor in Oakley, ready to hunt down some big stripers on the San Joaquin River since my freezer was running low on taco fixings.
